Ryobi showed off their new Microtech cordless screwdriver set at a recent Home Depot media event.
I have never seen a Ryobi tool like this before, and am pretty sure you haven’t either.
I tried to pick up the Ryobi Microtech screwdriver but could not. It was firmly attached to its bit case. That’s strange, I thought. Let me try to pull it out.

The Ryobi Microtech screwdriver slid right out of the case! That cordless screwdriver-sized part of the case wasn’t the tool, the slim tool was inside of it!
From what I could tell, Ryobi Microtech battery-powered screwdriver features a 4mm hex bit holder for “micro” form factor screwdriver bits, and 2 speed settings. There’s a directional selection switch towards the front.
I played around with it for a little bit. The speed selection switch was easy to operate.
I didn’t take a photo, but I remember noting that the built-in flashlight toggled on even when the speed was set to the 0 position.
It has a built-in battery and I believe it charges via USB.
Break time was over and I made a point to come back to the Ryobi booth for a better introduction. I never made it back during the designated time slot, and when I returned later the tools were gone.
I messaged my Ryobi rep, and they said the new Microtech will be officially announced soon. I couldn’t wait for more info and hope you appreciate the teaser!
