Whether you’re making a single picture frame or a full set of kitchen cabinets, a router can help you get the job done quickly and accurately. And right now, you can get a well-reviewed router from a trusted manufacturer on sale with a steep discount.
The DeWalt 20V Max XR Cordless Compact Router is on sale for $140, 44% off its normal $249 price tag at Walmart. This deal is good for the bare tool only, but it will only take a bit of the money you’ll be saving on it to get a battery and charger. And if you already have other DeWalt Max power tools, those batteries are also compatible with this tool.
The brushless motor at the heart of this tool is what’s called a soft start motor, which means it gradually increases voltage upon start, decreasing abrupt, high-torque starts and extending the life of the motor. It’s also plenty powerful, spinning the bit up to 25,500 times per second. Near the top of the tool is a variable speed dial that lets you adjust that speed for your purposes. On the bottom, you’ll find a pair of LED lights that illuminate your cutting path, an electronic brake that promptly stops the blade when the motor stops running, and a depth adjustment ring for fast and easy height adjustments.

One shopper who uses this router professionally nearly every day wrote that “it’s extremely powerful for its size” and “very quiet to use.” It’s quickly become the first choice of the four routers they own, not least of all because “the run time with a 5 or 6 Ah battery is excellent,” and there’s a “very effective electric brake.”
Other customers wrote that this “great little router” is “accurate, stable, and relatively quiet.” It’s also “every bit as good as the corded version, without the cord.” That’s a big deal for a tool like a router that’s much easier to move precisely without the hassle of worrying about a cord.
