Long-reach mechanical pencils have gotten even more popular with construction pros, woodworkers, carpenters, and other users.
Milwaukee has a really good one that you can now find at Home Depot.
Klein’s got one at Amazon that users seem to like.
Pica (via KC Tool and others) is still iconic.
Those are all great choices.
But what if you’re not sure such mechanical pencils are right for you? Maybe you’re not sure you need the long-reach capabilities. Maybe you prefer markers.
You can get a Nicpro set for pretty cheap – the set shown above comes with 2 pencils and a total of 26 led refills in black and 2 colors.
It’s under $10 at the time of this posting ($9.45). That seems fairly low risk.
They also have a single pencil pack, but the 2-pencil set is hugely more popular, not to mention a better value. Or you can opt for a larger set if you want more colors.
These have been on my shopping list since last year, ever since this post: Are Cheap Nicpro Carpenter Pencils any Good?. I might finally pick up a pack.
I keep separate Sharpie and Milwaukee Inkzall markers for clean and dirty work, and it’s been pretty convenient rather than cleaning them between different work environments. Maybe I should do the same with mechanical pencils.
The price has been a little lower in the past, and also a little higher.
For the readers that bought Nicpro pencils last year, how have they treated you?
