We discovered that Lowe’s is launching several new Kobalt 24V cordless power tools.
Described by Lowe’s as “value” offerings, the new tools all seem to have lower specs compared to existing models.
For example, the current Kobalt 24V cordless impact driver kit (on sale right now for $99) delivers 2000 in-lbs max torque. It’s bundled with an 85W charger.
The new Kobalt value-focused impact driver kit, also priced at $99, is said to deliver up to 1800 in-lbs of max torque, and is bundled with a 45W charger. You get less power and a slower charger at the same price.
Kobalt’s current 24V cordless drill kit, on sale for $99 right now, delivers up to 850 in-lbs max torque and up to 2000 RPM. It’s bundled with an 85W charger.
The new Kobalt 24V cordless drill kit, also $99 right now, is advertised as delivering up to 500 in-lbs max torque and 1800 RPM speeds. This kit is bundled with a 45W charger. Again, you get less torque, slower speeds, and a slower charger.
Additional listings have popped up for new Kobalt 24V battery, circular saw, and sander SKUs.
It’s unclear whether Lowe’s is replacing existing Kobalt cordless power tools with these new lower-performing models, or if they’re just putting these out there for holiday deal shoppers. At the time of this posting, Lowe’s product pages suggest the new tool kits are available online and in stores.
Maybe these new Kobalt cordless drill and impact driver offerings will drop in price around Black Friday.
