Ever since its launch in 2021, the Volkswagen ID.4 has become the brand’s best-selling EV in the United States, a position it still holds today.
But sales are not what they used to be, and VW is gearing up for the launch of its successor, which will drop the ID.4 name for a more relatable ID. Tiguan nameplate. Understandably, Volkswagen of America is also preparing for that by trying to shift existing ID.4 inventory faster.
You Can Get a 2025 VW ID.4 Pro for As Little As $32,600
The automaker’s U.S. subsidiary has started to apply significant discounts to ID.4 units on dealer lots—going as high as $12,500 for 2025 model year ID.4s! The biggest discount comes as a customer bonus toward the lease or purchase of a 2025 VW ID.4 at participating dealerships, Electrek reports. The offer runs September 1 through November 2, 2026.
Now, the key words here are “participating dealerships,” as Volkswagen’s website notes that a “very limited inventory is available.” Still, buyers who will be able to claim the offer will see the 2025 ID.4 Pro RWD model’s starting MSRP drop from $45,095 to a much more palatable $32,595 (both prices excluding taxes, destination and other charges).
The healthy discount trumps the old $7,500 federal tax credit that was eliminated by the Trump administration exactly one year ago. Mind you, buyers who can’t manage to get a 2025 ID.4 should know that Volkswagen is offering a smaller $6,000 lease or purchase customer bonus for 2026MY ID.4 electric SUVs, though it must be said that the offer is for a very limited inventory as well.
It’s unclear how limited the inventory is as Volkswagen previously said it had enough supply of the current ID.4 models to “support customer demand into 2027,” when its successor is expected to go on sale in the United States.
The generous cash discounts come as Volkswagen ended ID.4 production in Chattanooga, Tennessee, in April to retool the assembly lines for gas-powered SUVs, including the three-row Atlas. Interestingly, the ID.4 discounts are significantly higher than those it offers for gas-powered SUVs: $3,000 for the similarly sized Tiguan and $2,000 for the smaller Taos.

With the ID.4 discounts, VW is looking to clear inventory and make room for the forthcoming ID. Tiguan. The automaker recently confirmed that the ID. Tiguan would replace the ID.4, including in the U.S. The ID. Tiguan will go on sale in Europe in early 2027 and later on stateside.
Volkswagen teased a fully camouflaged ID. Tiguan prototype, revealing a smooth shape that shares some similarities to the ID.4 but also the ID.5 electric crossover coupe, which it also replaces. That said, the ID. Tiguan sports new lighting units, including a full-width light bar at the front and rectangular taillights out back.
The ID.4 successor is expected to continue offering single- and dual-motor powertrains as well as a higher driving range likely exceeding 300 miles. The ID. Tiguan will be fully revealed in early October, with VW expected to share more details about the U.S.-spec version in the coming months.
