Funnily enough, throughout automotive history, cars and the sailing lifestyle have coincided multiple times, birthing special-edition cars like the Buick Riviera, Rolls-Royce Boat Tail, and many more. If the brand wasn’t willing to go all the way, countless cars have still carried influences and tributes to life at sea.
Alfa Romeo is taking it a step further by introducing a slew of special edition models that pay tribute to one of the most famous, prestigious, and oldest nautical races in the world.

Edizione Luna Rossa
Alfa Romeo just announced the Edizione Luna Rossa series of cars, set to commemorate the second preliminary regatta for the 2027 America’s Cup, underway in Napoli, Italy, until September 27. The Edizione Luna Rossa series by Alfa Romeo merges two proud Italian institutions: the automaker and premier sailing team, Luna Rossa, where the collection gets its name.
The special collection is expansive and includes all of Alfa Romeo’s models, including the Junior, Tonale, Giulia, and Stelvio. Effectively, Edizione Luna Rossa will become the new top-of-the-line variant across all European markets. The Edizione Luna Rossa models are distinguished by the red Alfa Romeo logo and a color palette inspired by Luna Rossa boats, with white, black, gray, and red mixed and used together in different aesthetic pieces.

Two Variations
In effect, there are two variations of the Edizione Luna Rossa Collection, split between the Junior, Tonale, and the Giulia and Stelvio. The Junior and Tonale draw inspiration from “technology and design inspired by the world of sailing.” Both cars feature a new gray color that was inspired by the Personal Flotation Devices worn by the team, but Black and White exteriors are also available. One key exterior difference is that the Junior uses 18-inch Gloss Black Wheels, while the Stelvio gets 20-inch wheels. The interior mixes dark shades with red accents, but the highlight is the new 3D Knit technology used for the seat upholstery. 3D Knit is usually found in activewear, and this new process debuts in these special Alfas.
The Giulia and Stelvio variants represent the most “exclusive and sporty interpretation” of sailing, linking Alfa Romeo’s sporting DNA to high-performance sailing competition. These cars are available in a standard color of White, or in Black and Etna Red. Most components use carbon fiber, including the front badge and the mirror caps with the Luna Rossa logo.
Specific to the Giulia model, the side skirts and spoiler recall the stylistic language of the renowned Quadrifoglio version. Both cars feature a monochromatic interior, broken only by the iconic Luna Rossa liner that crosses the seats and the carbon inserts on the dashboard. The interior materials mix leather with 100% recycled ECONYL fabric, made from nylon recovered from fishing nets on the seabed.
