Bambu officially announced their new R1 laser cutter today, saying it offers “serious CO2 laser capability, made easier.”
The new Bambu R1 features a 55W CO2 laser that can “cut and engrave wood, clear acrylic, leather, and more, with materials up to 20 mm thick in a single pass.”
Highlighted features include an automatic laser alignment, multiple sensors (cameras, lasers, XY encoders) for positioning accuracy “within 0.2 mm,” and vibration compensation.
The work area measures 600 x 300mm, and there’s also a conveyer for use with longer work, although it compromises the laser safety.
Bambu says its R1 laser can do high-speed engraving at up to 1000 mm/s and 20,000 mm/s^2 acceleration.
There will be a new Bambu Lab Purifier E1 Pro to handle the exhuast smoke.
Price: $2499 for the R1 laser, $899 for the smoke filter
