When you think of automotive icons, the McLaren F1 comes to mind. The original supercar (almost hypercar) built in the 90’s by legendary car designer Gordon Murray was once the very pinnacle of automotive design and performance. It was a true driver’s car, blending F1 technology and performance for the road. This car was such a success that it became an instant classic, loved by private owners and race car drivers.
Nothing really came after the F1, with Gordon Murray stepping back and watching the automotive industry evolve for decades. Until he finally decided it was time to make another car in the same spirit and vein as the F1. The Gordon Murray T.50 stands as an outlier among today’s ultra-modern, tech-laden hypercars, and one pristine example is now on sale.

62-Mile Gordon Murray T.50
Now listed on RM Sotheby’s is a 2024 Gordon Murray T.50 that is virtually brand-new, having traveled only 62 miles. This particular car was built to EU specifications and is finished in a rare Harrier paintwork over Luffield Tan leather. The paint itself has also undergone PPF treatment to keep it protected.
The T.50 is a masterclass in proportions and engineering, weighing just 997 kilograms (2,198 lbs) with a footprint equivalent to a Porsche Boxster. Gordon Murray’s obsession with weight saving ensures that the T.50 has everything a modern car needs without the bloat of unnecessary features.
Powering the T.50 is a 4.0-liter V12 engine co-developed with legendary engine maker Cosworth. The V12 puts out a very healthy 661 hp and weighs only 392 lbs. What makes this engine incredible is its performance; despite being naturally aspirated and devoid of any electrification, it can do 24,800 revs per minute and has a redline of 12,000 rpm. Another key feature of the T.50 is its massive rear fan, an ode to the F1 Fan car; it reduces drag by 12.5% and works with the diffuser to increase downforce.

Small Batch
The T.50 was only built in extremely limited numbers, totaling just 100 units. Chassis number 047 (the car for sale) was completed in 2024 and is a one-of-one specification and combination. Astonishingly, the car hasn’t been driven beyond factory test miles, which means it’s as fresh as it can be.
Currently, the listing estimates this car at $5.6 million (converted), up to $6.2 million (converted), which is about $ 1 to $ 2 million higher than the brand-new price. Bidding starts on September 24 and ends after a week, on October 1.
