Makita 18V Multi-Head Cordless Drill Driver

Over in Europe and other regions, Makita launched a new 18V cordless drill driver with interchangeable tool heads, model DDF491.

The Makita DDF491 is essentially an 18V LXT 1/4″ hex cordless screwdriver with tool head interface.

It comes with 4 attachment heads – a keyless drill chuck, quick-release 1/4″ hex screwdriver bit chuck, offset adapter with 1/4″ hex screwdriver bit chuck, and right angle adapter.

As with similar tools, the right angle adapter has its own interface for use with the other drilling or driving chucks.

  • Brushless motor
  • 13mm (1/2″) drill chuck max capacity
  • 0-500/0-1900 RPM no load speeds
  • 20 torque clutch settings
  • Max fastening torque 27 Nm (~239 in-lbs) soft, 50 Nm (~443 in-lbs) hard
  • 65 Nm (~575 in-lbs) max torque
  • LED light with pre-glow and afterglow functions
  • Weighs 1.2 – 2.1 kg with battery (~2.65 – 4.63 lbs)

Discussion

While multi-head cordless drills are not new, it’s good to see more brands launch 18V-class tools of this kind.
