A Radical New Look
From the first to the fourth generation, the styling of the BMW X5 can be best described as evolutionary. It’s grown and grown bigger over the years, but one can still easily trace its roots straight to the very first generation that made its world premiere way back in 1999.
But for the fifth-generation X5, it’s anything but evolutionary, both inside and out. For better or worse, this is the direction BMW is going with its best-selling crossover, and there’s no turning back now. Either way, we still expect it to sell in the millions, mainly because it’s still an X5.

The Aftermarket is Ready
Of course, the redesigned X5 gets an M Sport package, and perhaps eventually, M Performance parts will be added in as well. That said, the aftermarket community is already eyeing it for its next canvas, and the first one out the gates is Waido.
Waido is still relatively young in the business, and it appears that it mostly specializes in widebody kits for SUVs. So far, it’s made several for the Ford Explorer, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Dodge Durango, Mercedes-Benz G-Class, and Lamborghini Urus. Perhaps it was only a matter of time before the new BMW X5 got the same treatment, and given the way it looks now, it’s a safe bet that more kitted-out pegs are coming soon.

The Kit
If you’re familiar with the brand, then you know what to expect from it. If not, Waido’s X5 is an interesting take on the luxury crossover. While some widebody builds tend to be overblown, this one isn’t too exaggerated. You can see that it’s wider than stock, but not in an extreme kind of way. We think it’s a bit like a GT racer if BMW decided to enter the X5 in circuit racing.
It’s then complemented by a deep chin that wouldn’t look out of place in an M5, ground-hugging side skirts, and aggressive-looking rear diffusers. Even the spoiler gets an extra pair of strakes because, well, why not?

Is it Available Now?
So for those eyeing a new X5 and want to do something to make it stand out more, they can pre-order it now via Waido’s official channels. That said, the redesigned X5 will reach dealers by the fourth quarter of 2026, so while the kit is ready, BMW is piling up the cars first before these are dispatched to showrooms.
Sure, it won’t make it go any faster, but the new-gen X5 is expected to be pretty quick, regardless of engine option. And for those waiting for the X5 M, this might be a kid worth checking out. As for those saying it won’t be able to go off-road with all of that attached, well, BMW said that people who actually buy these don’t actually send them off pavement.
