This is the Victorinox Super Tinker Swiss Army Knife with BladeHQ-exclusive Kernal Warrior decorations.
BladeHQ sent this over last holiday season (thank you!) and it got buried until now.
So, here’s what happened. One of the trainers at my gym is moving across the country. He’s a nice guy, mid-20’s. Loves the outdoors. I wanted to give him a nice “thanks for everything” gadget.
But, I only had 2 days since nobody knew he was leaving so quickly.
I knew the perfect quirky gift – a mini pocket axe! (See 10 Cool Pocket Tool Gifts). I had an extra. I bought one, and then Gerber sent me another.
That’s not all I was looking for – I thought I might still have an extra Leatherman from a past promo season, but it didn’t turn up.
I dug around looking for the Gerber axe-shaped keychain tool, and came across a stash of purchases and small samples from the holiday season. Oops!
In that box was this Victorinox Kernal Warrior Super Tinker tool.
It has a 2.75″ slip joint knife blade. I think that’s a good size for a compact pocket tool.
There’s also a small blade, which I guess is for smaller and more precise cutting tasks. This view shows the corn husk pattern on the back of the tool handle.
Spring-action scissors? Always handy. Scratch that. Always handy on a Victorinox tool. They tend to do scissors very well, even on the smaller tools.
The screwdriver looks to be full-size. That’s great, but the catch is that you can only use it in T-handle mode.

A big part of me wanted to keep it, but I also feel good knowing that it went to a good home. It won’t take up a lot of space, I’m sure it’ll get used, and the corny aspect was good for a couple of smiles (and maybe a couple more).
