Ergodyne Chill-Its Phase Change Cooling Vest

I’ve been looking at cooling workwear and accessories, and came across the Ergodyne 6210 Chill-Its phase change cooling ice vest.

It seems to be exactly what it sounds and looks like – a durable wearable ice pack.

Ergodyne, a Klein Tools company, says that the cooling vest can maintain a temperature of 64°F for up to 2 hours.

It can be recharged in a cooler filled with ice water, freezer, refrigerator, or placed near an air conditioner.

Ergodyne says it can be activated in as quick as 10 minutes.

The vest weighs less than 3 pounds.

Some retailers are pairing it with a cooling towel which provides additional relief from hot weather.

There are lots of different cooling products, but this is the first ice vest I’ve seen.

This isn’t just an ice vest. Ergodyne says that the phase change tech means it “maintains constant 64°F” which provides “consistent temperature regulation for extended periods.”

Meaning, it keeps you cool, but – as I understand it – the vest shouldn’t feel like you’re wearing a melting ice pack.

You have to be mindful of the short cooling window, but it might be enough to help make working in peak summer heat more bearable.

Thoughts? Alternatives?
