Kargo Backpack Used for Milwaukee Pipeline Media Event Travel

I’ve got a thing for bags. Yup, it’s not just tools. If I’m going to haul things around, I want to be organized and comfortable.

It seemed like a good idea to give you a brief rundown of the different gear bags I took with me to the Milwaukee Pipeline media event last week.

Well, this is most of it. I also had my luggage, packing cubes, and some other smaller organizer bags.

Shown above is a Kargo Gear Senda 21L backpack. This one’s new – I bought it ahead of my trip to a Home Depot Creator event 2 months ago, for use as a personal bag.

Usually I fly with a carry-on for my clothes and some gear, and a mixed-use camera backpack as my personal bag. I didn’t take my full camera to Home Depot, so I bought the compact backpack.

I like a lot about the Kargo Gear backpack, but there are also things that I don’t.

It’s made in the USA.

I traveled with a Kargo Loculus sling bag inside the backpack, and pulled it out for the main event day.

This one is also made in the USA. It’s not a universal sling bag – this was one was designed for left shoulder carry.

There are some differences compared to earlier photos I’ve seen of the same bag.

Overall, it worked out well.

I also brought my Tom Bihn small Cafe bag. It’s my “dad” bad. I usually have tissues, bandaids, hand sanitizer, a bottle of water, just-in-case medicine, eye drops, and similar. It’s big enough for my kids’ water bottles.

Tom Bihn gear bags are pricey, but they are extremely convenient. Here, these have snacks and photo/video gear.

Peak Design Tech Bags Used for Milwaukee Pipeline Media Event Travel

My Peak Design tech bag (left) is 9 years old now, and has served me well in that time. It helps me organizer certain camera gear when travelling to media events.

On the right is a Peak Design folding shopping tote. I use it as an overflow bag.

For this trip, I used it for hauling 4 liter water bottles back from the corner store to the hotel, and then cheese from the cheese store.

Are they necessary? No. But they improved my comfort and efficiency.

If there’s interest, I’ll review them in greater detail in separate posts.

I can also take better photos. These were all taken for a quick social media post as I was getting my stuff ready at the hotel.

I had also purchased a larger personal carry-on-sized camera bag for Pipeline this year, but ended up taking a pocket camera instead. Oops. But that’s okay, there will be more opportunities to use it. I tend to prefer bags and gear cases that are versatile and multi-functional.
