Record-Breaking Performance

McMurtry is a very niche brand; not only is it only the smaller-scale side of production, but the one product it makes is very specific and very desirable. The Spéirling first gained attention during the world-famous annual Goodwood Festival of Speed (FOS), where its looks and otherworldly engineering captured interest.

When it finally broke free and attacked the hillclimb, it not only decimated the record but also broke the world of high-performance cars; here was a small, odd-looking experimental car beating the quickest supercars and hypercars. With so much hype and interest, McMurtry decided to spin it off as an actual production car that people could buy.

Public Debut

It was announced just a few months ago that a public model would be produced for those who want to partake in the mind-bending experience of the Spéirling. The official name of the production car is Spéirling Pure; it is derived from the Gaelic word for thunderstorm. McMurtry Automotive posted a final teaser of the production model on its official YouTube page with the caption “A Storm Is Coming.”

According to an official statement from the brand, the car will debut next week. McMurtry also says that the inspiration for the Pure is a more usable, ownership-friendly version of the prototype, but it shares 95% of its components with the real record-breaking performance model.

The Pure uses downforce-on-demand technology produced by the massive rear fan, coupled with aerodynamics, lightweight construction, and a 1,000-hp electric motor to blast from 0-60 mph in warp-speed-like 1.38 seconds.

While a production model sounds fun, the Pure is actually only legal on the racetrack. Nevertheless, the performance should be enough to convince a lucky group of just 100 people to part ways with around $1.3 million for a track toy. First deliveries of the car are set to begin towards the latter half of 2026.

The confidence of a small brand to build 100 cars comes from the fact that McMurtry is also an advanced engineering company. They just built a new state-of-the-art production facility at the Swinhay House estate. Here, they will offer advanced services, including internally patented processes, technology, and expertise, to other OEM brands.
