Dewalt Xtreme 12V Max Cordless Power Tools Update June 2026

There’s nothing major happening with the Dewalt Xtreme 12V Max compact cordless power tool line, but there is some news to go over.

Dewalt has recently launched several new kit configurations.

Dewalt DCF601J1 – Xtreme 12V brushless screwdriver kit
Dewalt DCD701J1 – Xtreme 12V brushless drill/driver kit
Dewalt DCF801J1 – Xtreme 12V brushless impact driver kit

These are the same tools as before, but they’re now kitted with a single 5Ah battery. Existing kits feature 2x 2Ah batteries.

The Dewalt compact drill and screwdriver is among my favorite cordless power tools, especially the driver. The impact is also quite capable for its size. Sadly I’ve been slimming down my power tool collection and donated my last purchased copies.

Separately, or perhaps related, Lowe’s seems to have been clearancing out existing Dewalt Xtreme 12V Max cordless power tool kits.

The cordless screwdriver was $79 at many Lowe’s stores – but to some readers’ frustrations not all of them – and was also discounted to $49 last week.

Online communities have reported that Lowe’s has been cancelling orders, which as you can imagine prompted a lot of complaints.

None of the Dewalt Xtreme 12V Max kits are appearing in a search of Lowe’s website. When looking at older links directly, such as for the DCF601F2 cordless screwdriver kit with 2 batteries, Lowe’s pages say “this item is out of stock.”

Lowe’s website says they have the new Xtreme 12V Max cordless screwdriver kit in stock.

What does this mean?

It looks to me like Lowe’s cleared out the old 2-battery kits and is now carrying the power tool kits with the single 5Ah battery.

At the time of this posting, I could still find the 2-battery kits at other retailers.

Like I said, this isn’t major news, but it was still notable.
