Makita Nitrile Coated Work Gloves on Hand

I got home from the supply house and found a pair of Makita nitrile coated work gloves inside a padded envelope.

The packing slip said this was a media demo sample. Sweet – thank you Makita!

So of course I put in on right away to test the fit.

I knew that Makita had work gloves, but forgot that they made coated cut-resistant gloves. This was my first time trying them out.

Makita Nitrile Coated Work Gloves Ansi Cut Resistant Type A1

These are the model T-04177 gloves in small/medium size, and T-04123 is for the large/XL size.

They’re rated with ANSI A1 cut-resistance, level 2 puncture resistance, and level 4 abrasion resistance.

These ratings correspond to specific types and levels of risks. According to a graphic on the product page, ANSI A1 gloves are suited for precision assembly and electronics manufacturing.

Speaking for myself, A1-level cut-resistance gloves are great for “do I really need gloves?” types of tasks. I sometimes regret not wearing gloves, but I don’t think I have ever regretted wearing lightweight gloves for lighter tasks.

In my experience, for the work I do, A1-rated gloves are lightweight, fairly comfortable, offer adequate protection against incidental scrapes and cuts, and often provide enhanced grip.

Makita FitKnit material is said to provide optimal flexibility and protection. The fingers are touchscreen-compatbile.

I tried them very briefly, and I’m pleased with the fit. I typically wear medium-sized gloves, sometimes large if they’re insulated.

They fit well. Snug but not tight. Just enough stretch. The cuff is a nice detail – I like how it’s finished and sits on my wrist.

I’m a fan of the Makita-teal color.

With work gloves, the first-fit tells me 90% of what I need to know, and the rest requires time and testing. We’ll see how these work out – I’m adding them to my kit and will report back.

Price: $10 per pair

Thank you to Makita for the work gloves!
