Dewalt announced new 20V Max cordless oscillating multi-tools, which will presumably be replacing their XR DCS356 and Atomic DCS354 models.
It looks like there will be 2 new models – a premium XR tool, and one that’s more value-focused.

Dewalt has only shared information via social media posts, and so limited details are available.
Press materials are not available, and Dewalt has not yet respond to our questions.

We’ve seen some images and specs via international dealers. There might be differences between those models and what will be available in the USA.
The new DCS359 tool will be part of the XR line and feature a 4 speed settings.
The international specs describe the tool as having a “universal quick-release OIS attachment mount.”

There’s also going to be a cheaper tool, model DCS358, which only has a single speed range.
Both have variable speed switches.

Here’s a closer look at the accessory interface.
Dewalt’s current cordless oscillating multi-tools only allow for tool-free changes with split-ring accessories. Full-ring accessories, such as older OIS and modern Starlock-type accessories require an adapter.
From the images, it looks like the new Dewalt oscillating multi-tools should allow for tool-free accessory changes for split and fill ring accessories.
Both tools have brushless motors and similar-looking controls, ergonomics, and blade change mechanisms.
It looks to me like the variable speed settings are the only difference between XR and non-XR tools.
I would guess that these are launching sometime in 2026.
We’ll update you once Dewalt provides more info.
