New Dewalt 20V Cordless Track Saw DCS525 on Guide Rail

Dewalt has come out with a 20V Max cordless track saw (DCS525) that works with a single battery pack.

Dewalt announced the new tool via social media. Press materials are not available, and Dewalt has not yet replied to our questions about the new track saw’s features, blade size, price, ETA, or battery compatibility and recommendations.

As they say, a picture says a thousand words, and so we’re seeing enough to potentially get excited about.

The new Dewalt DCS525 cordless track saw will be part of the XR line, and features a brushless motor.

Dewalt already offers a 60V Max FlexVolt battery-powered track saw (DCS520) – that model came out 9 years ago.

From what Dewalt posted to social media, the DCS525 blade size looks small and might match the 6-1/2″ size as for the FlexVolt tool.

It’s also possible Dewalt went with a smaller blade size. That’s what Bosch did a few years ago, with their 5-1/2″ plunge-cutting track saw.

The ergonomics are curious, with the battery jutting out the left side of the tool.

While this looks very awkward, it might free up space at the rear of the tool by the handle. Also, keep in mind that that this is a track saw that will glide along a guide rail most of the time. There could be ergonomic benefits to the battery placement.

We’ll update you as we learn more.

Thank you to Big Richard for the heads-up!

Updates

There’s no riving knife. Dewalt replied to someone on social media, saying it doesn’t require a riving knife because there’s “kickback brake technology.”
