As December officially gets underway this week, daylight is getting harder to come by. We’re less than three weeks away from the winter solstice — a.k.a. the shortest day of the year — which means the sun is starting to feel more and more like a distant stranger. Beyond dampening your mood, the darkness this month brings can also compromise your home’s security if you aren’t careful.
Enter the Tzumi Outdoor Solar Lights. They’re designed to keep your home and everything around it safer and more secure, and for a limited time, you can pick up a pair for almost 70% off. Walmart currently has them on sale for only $17, down from their regular retail price of $50, making them must-haves for anyone living in a house without enough exterior lighting, especially in the backyard.

These outdoor solar lights are small — they measure about 11 inches long and 5 inches wide and weigh less than 1 pound — but mighty. They feature three adjustable lighting modes, allowing you to use the included remote control to set how bright you would like them to shine. They also boast built-in motion sensors that automatically turn them on and off when they detect movement outside your home. They’re surprisingly durable, too, and have achieved an IP44 waterproof rating, highlighting just how heavy-duty they are when it comes to dealing with Mother Nature’s shenanigans.
Still, the real draw here is that you won’t have to worry about hardwiring these outdoor lights or constantly replacing their batteries, since you can count on the sun to power them. They have small solar panels that can capture sunlight during the day and provide enough power for them to light up at night.
