Whenever I posed about limited edition Klein Blackout tools at Lowe’s stores, there are always some folks who ask the reasonable question “who really wants this?”
Why? Why do they keep selling these tools?

I visited a Lowe’s store over the weekend, and found the Klein Tools display near the pro section with lumber, drywall, and bags of concrete mix.
The multi-functional utility knife was gone – completely sold out. The multi-bit screwdriver was also sold through. There were a couple of wire cutters left.
Some of the tools didn’t sell as well as the others, mostly the adjustable wrench 2-pack. But the electrical tools and general purpose tools seem to have sold very well in a short time.
Multiply this by over 1700 stores in the USA, and that’s a lot of tools being sold in a short time.
Klein and Lowe’s are giving customers what they have demonstrated demand for. With the apparent sales volume anyone can observe, it’s no wonder why they keep launching new Blackout tools every year.
Buy them at Lowe’s (while supplies last):
- Klein 2-in-1 Utility Knife with Screwdriver
- Diagonal Flush-Cutting Pliers
- Multi-Bit Screwdriver and Nutdriver
- Folding Pocket Knife
- Wire Strippers
- Multi-Bit Screwdriver
- 2pc Adjustable Wrench Set

I think everyone has had it with Lowe’s Mr Beast promotional stuff. This store now has a cutout at the front to greet customers.
This store was dirty, with dust visibly on main-aisle products – I had to dig a little for a Teeny trash can that wasn’t heavily contaminated – and the air quality was noticeably poor in the Pro area. My kid said it smelled so bad they couldn’t think, so we had to hurry out of there.
While the Klein Blackout tools are bringing customers to stores, there’s plenty that’s pushing them away.
With the Klein limited edition tools, I think that’s a case of terrible leadership at Lowe’s making the rare good decision.
