Ultimate Swansong
The W463 G-Class platform was the first purpose-built luxury off-road version of the iconic G-Class, before the W463 was the more utilitarian W460 launched in 1979. Such was the longevity of the W63 that it was actually in continuous use and production from 1990 up until 2018.
Having had a successful 28-year run, Mercedes felt that the time was right to move things along in terms of the next-generation G-Class. Before stopping the W463, Mercedes and Maybach worked on a final version of the G-Class, which is one of the rarest luxury SUVs ever made, and now one is for sale.

Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landualet
RM Sotheby’s has a listing for a 2018 Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet, which is part of just 99 units that were made and sold worldwide. To make this SUV come to life, Mercedes stretched the wheelbase by over half a meter, which gave the G650 more rear legroom than the long-wheelbase Mercedes-Benz S-Class. Next, it was given an impressive amount of power, courtesy of a 6.0-liter, biturbo V-12 from the AMG department, and produced a colossal 621 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque.
The G650 was also given the same portal axles and 3 locking differentials that were used on the G500 4×4², giving it the same raised and wide stance plus off-road capabilities. Its most imposing design detail has to be the addition of the ‘Landaulet’ soft-top rear roof, which is a homage to the original open-top G-Wagon. In this version, it uses a Beige fabric roof to match the Beige interior, which complements the Designo Mystic White paint. The overall look is completed by the Chrome package, red brake calipers, 22-inch immersion-polished alloy wheels, carbon-fiber-style trim for the outer strips and wheel arches, a side step, and smoked rear glass.

High Ticket Item
Inside the G50 are reclining, memory, massaging rear seats fitted from an S600 limousine. Most of the interior is in Beige but has contrasting materials in Black Nappa hide and AMG Carbon trim. The sound system was a Harman Kardon Logic 7 system that already has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This specific car was ordered and sent to Belgium back in 2017, and has only covered 124 miles.
Given the provenance and rarity of the G650 Landaulet, its listing price is quite high; the estimate on the website expects the sale price to be over $694,000 up to $810,000. It is currently offered at no reserve, and the sale will go live from September 8 to September 16, 2026.
