I have been cleaning up my workshop, getting rid of workbenches and cabinets, and bringing in and designing news ones that better suit my current and ongoing activities.
Random tools and supplies have been popping up in the process, such as this long smooth-shank Phillips screwdriver bit.
It came from a Blum undermount drawer slide installation tool set. If I recall correctly, I bought the set for the 2.5mm drill bit extension handle to use with a different jig (Blum’s jig was pricey and hard to find at the time).
I have some screwdriver bits that have rounded reduced diameter shafts, but even those have 1/4″ hex shanks for use with a cordless drill, impact driver, or hand tools.
A completely smooth-shank screwdriver bit can only be used with a drill chuck, and maybe specialty machines.
This is the only non-hex smooth-shank screwdriver bit I can recall seeing, except maybe for bits meant for use with specific tool handles.
