The 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 9 in a Nutshell

How big do you want your electric Hyundai? If you answered ‘give me the biggest one they’ve got,’ then the only answer here is the Ioniq 9. Introduced in late 2024 for the 2025 model year, it’s the flagship model of the South Korean automaker’s Ioniq EV line.

Utilizing the E-GMP architecture, the Ioniq 9 is closely related to the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6, with its chassis pulled to just under 200 inches. While not the longest crossover out there, its EV layout does allow it to be about as spacious as a full-size SUV, at least in terms of the passenger area.

For the 2026 model year, there are six trim levels to choose from, along with the choice of rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Prices for the largest Ioniq model start at $58,995.

Final Thoughts

It may not look like it, but the Hyundai Ioniq 9 is the mechanical twin of the Kia EV9. The difference is, the Hyundai goes for a more streamlined and wagon-like look, whereas its sibling makes an effort to look more like an SUV.

In our review, we called it “one of the most compelling large electric SUVs on sale today,” and noted that it comes with the practicality and versatility of full-size people haulers. Performance, and more importantly, battery consumption is good for such a heavy vehicle, and it also offers a serene driving and riding experience thanks to the chassis tuning and EV powertrain.

Sure, it’s not the most affordable crossover out there, but those in the market for a battery-powered three-row crossover will be hard-pressed to say no to the Ioniq 9 — even with its Blade Runner styling.
