There have been rumors that Klein Tools is about to launch limited edition Blackout ModBox tool boxes. A brochure, partly shown above, has been floating around social media.
I’m guessing that – if true – Klein would launch the Blackout ModBoxes at Lowe’s for Father’s Day.
I emailed Klein Tools’ marketing manager 2 days ago, asking for more information, but haven’t heard back yet.
According to the brochure, which looks congruent with all of the other Klein Tools ModBox sales sheets I’ve seen, the limited edition Blackout ModBox tool box stack will include a rolling drawer tool box, drawer tool box, and organizer.
The limited edition Klein Blackout tool box combo looks to include a mix of ModBox 2.0 tool boxes – see New Klein ModBox Tool Boxes (Gen2) – Minor Updates – and existing drawer boxes.
Here are prices and links for the regular orange-color tool boxes:
- ModBox organizer via Acme Tools – $65
- ModBox drawer tool box via Acme Tools – $200
- ModBox rolling drawer tool box via Acme Tools – $230
Lowe’s pricing is similar.
Based on current component pricing, a 3pc combo stack featuring the regular Klein ModBox organizer (component box, full width), 3-drawer tool box, and rolling tool box would be $495 at full price.
The sales sheet says the model number for the limited edition Klein Blackout ModBox combo is 548BLKSTK, with UPC 0-92644-54044-8.
From the single SKU, it looks like the limited edition Blackout ModBox tool box stack might be the only offering, with an estimated retail price of $495. Maybe there will be separate components, or perhaps that’ll be in the works for later limited editions.
There’s no confirmation where this will launch, but I’m guessing you’ll be able to find it at Lowe’s for Father’s Day.
Until we hear back from Klein, I’m considering this a credible but unverified rumor.
I don’t know about you, but I love the Klein Blackout color scheme! If it’s legit, hopefully the combo price is lower than the $495 it would cost to get a similar 3pc ModBox tool box combo in standard orange.
In related news, the patent infringement lawsuit against Klein Tools is still ongoing (and could be what prompted the 2.0 redesign). According to the latest update (made by the US district court in Illinois on 4/13/26), the involved parties “shall provide an updated joint status report” regarding “the proceedings before the United States International Trade Commission” by 4/20/26.
Another notable update was provided on 12/15/25, saying a US ITC judge issued a Final Initial Determination on 8/1/25, that the “FID recommended a finding of a violation,” and that “certain interlocking storage containers and toolboxes, organizers, component boxes, and coolers infringe certain claims” of multiple Milwaukee Tool and Keter patents.
