I saw a Knipex promotion for new punches and chisels, and of course had to take a closer look.
Looking at the labeling, they’re not exactly Knipex tools, but Rennsteig. Rennsteig is owned by Knipex.
I probably wouldn’t have paid attention if Knipex hadn’t called these out as their new tools, and so I did the same in the title.
But, although Knipex is advertising these on their site, and the brand is a Knipex subsidiary, we should probably call them Rennsteig tools.
What surprises me is that Rennsteig is selling these in inch sizes, which is less common for European tool brands.
Shown here are their center punches. As you might know, center punches help to physically mark the location of a hole to be drilled, literally, to help prevent drill bits from walking and sliding on the surface.
They also have a selection of cold chisels.
Pin punches, for driving pins and similar out of holes.
Roll punches, for removing roll pins.
There’s more, such as a taper punch.
The new Knipex/Rennsteig chisels and punches are available in a variety of sets, and they’re also sold individually.
I remember seeing an email from Knipex about the new punches and chisels a few months ago, and it looks like the full line is now available in stores.
The pricing is a little premium, as one would expect from a top-shelf tool brand.
