Although EVs are less likely to catch fire than combustion vehicles, putting out a battery fire is much more difficult. This was taken to the extreme on Monday, as a Tesla Semi crashed on I-80 in California, causing its battery to burst into flames. Firefighters needed hours to put out the blaze, while a hazmat team was summoned to clean up the toxic materials at the scene.
